We met up with Bryan, a 2018 graduate based in New York, to learn about his journey

Hi there, Bryan. Could you give us a bit of background on yourself?

I joined the ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Graduate Talent Program in 2018 after graduating from the University of Georgia.

I’ve completed my first rotation here on the Training and Development team within Global Wealth Management. I’ve quickly learned a ton about wealth management and how my group affects our advisors’ and clients’ lives.

I am extremely thankful for the opportunity to be part of such a great program. I’m learning about the profession, building new relationships and challenging myself to grow personally and professionally.

What made you choose the financial sector?

I chose it because I love communicating with people and helping people achieve their goals. While at university, I learned a lot about financial planning and had the pleasure of volunteering at a clinic where I helped people in the local community with financial counseling. My passions and strengths grew through the course work involved and other volunteer opportunities.

What's the most exciting part your job?

The most exciting part of my job is to see the work I do have a positive impact on someone else. I also enjoy getting to collaborate and build relationships with other people in the firm. I have gained great mentors and friends here, making it even more exciting. Through all this, I’m learning new skills and challenging myself while having a good time doing it.

What's one piece of advice you would give to incoming graduates?

I would advise them to challenge themselves and leave their comfort zone. I found this difficult, but it’s where I grew the most and gained new skills. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or speak up.

Aside from your day-to-day role, are you involved in any employee networks?

Yes, I’m involved in MOSAIC and the Veterans Network. MOSAIC strives to promote, support and celebrate cultural diversity and awareness through education, mentorship, engagement and community service. The Veterans Network brings together employees and veterans, to build better understanding while increasing the firm's presence within the veteran community. The networks give me a chance to volunteer and meet people around the firm with the same interests as me.

Tell us one thing that no one would know about you.

I ran track and cross country at university. I was fortunate enough to have the second fastest time in school history, in both the mile (at four minutes and two seconds) and the 5k (thirteen minutes, thirty four seconds). I missed the school record in both events by just a second!
