Meet our Technology career comeback candidates in India.
Meet our Technology career comeback candidates in India.
Meet Vaishali, Smita and Shraddha.Â
Vaishali started us off. "I’ve more than seven years of experience in quality assurance. I've worked in both Singapore and India too. I took a five year break to be with my children and after a certain point I wanted to come back to the workforce. Frankly, it wasn't easy. I made quite an effort to ensure I was up-to-date with the latest technologies. I happened to come across ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ India's Career Comeback Program and it seemed very inviting. I’m glad I signed up, because this is the best thing to happen to me."
Shraddha offered her story next. "As a core Java developer, I've always worked with leading brands before my three-year sabbatical. While I tried making my comeback a little earlier, I felt under-confident, so I took up a few tech courses to stay competitive. ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ was the first organization I interviewed with and it was a great moment to be selected. It was one of the best decisions I've made professionally and I’m very happy about it."
The trio were drawn by the energy of the people and the workplace after they attended an ‘Insights Day’ event to learn more. "Taking a break is still not looked up to positively by many organizations. But at ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ, with its friendly outlook and cool culture … it just got us hooked from the very first day."
Smita had wondered if her non-technology background would cause a problem. "I have more than eleven years' work experience but not with technology. I was skeptical and apprehensive about the financial industry after my two year sabbatical. However, within eight months of being here, I've gained enough confidence to say yes to any job or project that comes my way. In my current role as a project manager, I'm learning more than I ever thought. Even learning a programming language like Python! There are opportunities for everyone.â€
We asked about the work culture and experience with their team and Vaishali shared some insight. "The support we've received from our line managers, colleagues and everyone around us is absolutely amazing. We work with global teams, we’re learning new technologies and overall there is a lot of collaboration, positivity and a great vibe."
Sharing how career comeback changed them personally and professionally, they said "Professionally, we’re learning a lot, being more organized, breaking perceptions and barriers, and actively participating and contributing towards initiatives like Women in Technology and corporate social responsibility.
On the personal front, this opportunity has helped boost our confidence; helped make new friends; and get better with time management skills."
And how would they summarize the experience at ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ so far? "Friendly, diverse and highly collaborative. It’s so encouraging to be trusted with new responsibilities. We also appreciate the flexibility offered too.â€
All the three women in technology, who took a break in their career at different stages of their life, echoed the same sentiment. "ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ is a great place for people wanting to make a comeback to the corporate world, to re-start their professional journey. We look forward to mentoring and passing on the same feeling to the next batch."
