Sulakshana's experience being a working parent.
My role at ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ is ensuring that the technology that underpins the bank's business is available and performing at the expected level. A significant part of my role is also about simplifying and transforming technology production operations into a lean and efficient team.
Work-life balance to me means meaningful daily achievement and enjoyment in each of my four life quadrants: work, family, friends and self. I am flexible to quickly tilt the balance in favor of one over another based on the situation. In the period of a few weeks, the energy and time I devote to each quadrant should average out.
The best part would be the pace at which children of working parents become independent and learn foundational life skills e.g. fixing breakfast for themselves or finishing their homework on their own.
The culture here is very people friendly and accommodating, especially for women. Flexible working at ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ is extremely useful for working parents. In fact, ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ has one of the best leave policies I have come across so far!
A few months after I joined ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ, my son told me he noticed I seemed in much better control of my time and that I was happier when I got back home from work. Moreover, he proudly tells his friends that his mum works for the technology division of "The Swiss Bank."
Get in the driver's seat of your life in general, take some risks, get out of your comfort zone and try new things!
I am completely at peace with where I am in life right now, no regrets for the past and extremely hopeful about the future. I believe I know where to draw the line and have learnt to choose happiness over everything else.
