US President Donald Trump issued an executive order to block state laws aimed at reducing fossil fuel use and combating climate change, as part of his administration's efforts to boost domestic energy production, according to a Reuters report on 9 April. The order directs the attorney general to challenge state laws addressing climate change, ESG initiatives, and carbon emissions, specifically targeting laws in New York and Vermont, California's cap-and-trade policy, and state lawsuits against energy companies for their role in global warming.
